Conservatory Outlet was developed by myself (Matthew Glover) and my brother Andrew, who first began trading as West Yorkshire Windows, a small company mainly installing PVC-U windows back in 1993.
As the business grew so our knowledge grew, and we saw an opportunity to increase sales through the conservatory market as its popularity boomed among homeowners looking to improve properties rather than move. At the time, we were buying our frames from a fabricator who was experiencing problems so in 2003, Andrew and I took the decision to fabricate.
As West Yorkshire Windows grew, we looked at ways we could develop our business further. We invested in a promotional showroom with 13 fully furnished conservatories which helped us to increase sales to £5 million in a year.
Towards the end of 2004, West Yorkshire Windows formed a partnership with York-based Orion Windows. We developed a close relationship with them regularly sharing working methods and tips. We had set aside a budget for advertising West Yorkshire Windows on TV and radio and saw a link with Orion. We decided to put Orion Windows on our adverts as well as West Yorkshire Windows, and share the business. We offered to put them on our advertising for free but in return they had to buy their trade frames from us.
Andrew and I recognised it would be difficult to promote West Yorkshire Windows and Orion Windows in one advert so we created Conservatory Outlet brand and Orion Windows became our first dealer.
The Conservatory Outlet concept was born!
Within two years, Conservatory Outlet has recruited 5 other dealers throughout in the UK – Prime Window Systems, Visual Effect, Weatherglaze, Evalast, and Greenway Products (create links to each website). By constantly improving our infrastructure, Conservatory Outlet is in an extremely strong position offering its trade customers something no other supplier can match.
Since the concept developed Conservatory Outlet has retained all its customers who have all shown growth and development since becoming a Conservatory Outlet dealer - this is praise itself given the rough ride the industry has recently experienced.
More recently Conservatory Outlet has launched ConservatoryTV which is a consumer advice website with an emphasis on developing video footage of conservatories, windows and doors. This website is already providing further leads for our dealers. |
